What are revision cards?

Revision card also called as Flash card is a significant tool for any student from Primary to University. They help in consolidating and writing down facts, concepts, vocabulary words, dates and formulae in one place. They are not NOTES but they a way to test your knowledge quickly if written in right way!

What are the pre-requisites to make a good revision card?

  1. Use different colour cards so that each colour represents a different subject. For example: yellow for maths or Pink for English and so on.
  2. Use multi colour pencils, pens and markers. Using different colour helps to highlight key terms and be more memorable. You can use a black regular pen to do the main writing.
  3. First read your notes or the textbook and then pick out the main points to put down on the card. Do not clutter the card with too much information.

How to write a good revision card?

  1. Keep the contents small. No long running text or paragraphs. These cards are very good for contents like key dates or timelines (History), vocabulary, Key terms and formulas. At its maximum, you can include a definition of a term if you are comfortable.
  2. One term or concept (if small) per card.
  3. Add pictures related to card contents. It is easier to remember visual pictures rather than text.

How to use revision cards?

  1. Read the cards at least 3 times a day. Keep it in your bag and revise it wherever you get a chance like travelling, lunchtime, coffee break or at home.
  2. Revise this for at least 2-3 days till you can answer it correctly every single time.
